We unearthed a stack of your old Purple Sneakers party snaps

For Sydney kids in the second half of the last decade, indie night Purple Sneakers was a rite of passage. A blurry, sticky-floored, angular-fringed, pashing-a-random rite of passage.

It’s been a good few years since the Friday night bash hung up its dancing shoes, and it’s been a whopping six years since the party left its original home at the Abercrombie Hotel (which is reopening sometime in the future, but we’re not quite sure what as).

Next month, though, the Purple Sneakers crew will celebrate a decade of quality Australian music by hosting a massive free bash at Sneakers’ second home, the Lord Gladstone, with a roster of Australia’s finest selectors (more on that here).

The good news of Purple Sneakers’ temporary return sent us down a rabbit hole of indie-era nostalgia, where we unearthed a whole stack of libellous party snaps. If you partied at Sneakers at the Abercrombie between 2006 and early 2010, best look away now.
