Watch Pendulum and Knife Party’s full Ultra Miami 2016 set

Sunday nights on the Ultra Miami mainstage are always a major affair. 2015 saw Skrillex close with a Jack Ü medley stacked with enough celebrity firepower to distract from the pyro explosions (Diplo, Puff Daddy, Kiesza, CL and Justin Bieber), while 2014 had man-of-the-moment Hardwell hitting peak big-room with a set heavy on his (then) unreleased material.

But this year may well have its predecessors beat, because Ultra pulled off the coup of getting Perth’s favourite exports – and the world’s favourite live drum’n’bass act – Pendulum back together on stage for the first time since 2012.

Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen kicked the closing set off with a fast-cut, crowd-pleasing session as their “seizure-music” side-project Knife Party, peaking with a guitar-shredding cameo from Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, before the full band took up their instruments for a brutal set of Pendulum classics.

Deadmau5 even popped by for a Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff cameo with vocalist Rob Swire, before they wrapped things up with Pendulum smash Watercolour and Knife Party’s Begin Again as the mainstage’s final pyro barrage went off. It was a proud Aussie moment, and you can relive it all via Ultra TV’s YouTube channel below.
