Watch Laidback Luke DJ like a superhero in this Google Glass POV
Last week we got a glimpse of what it’s like to take the stage in front of thousands of festival fans, when Nicky Romero uploaded a POV video shot with the Google Glass wearable computer as he took the stage at TomorrowWorld. And now, thanks to the DJsounds YouTube series, we get an in-depth POV look at how the fleet-fingered Dutch DJ Laidback Luke operates behind the decks.
In the 50-minute long set (which starts at the five-minute mark below), Luke gets to show off his full range of skills, cutting swiftly between four CDJs to throw down intricate mixes, scratching, effects and micro-second cuts – it’s a masterclass in how to make full use of your DJ set-up. As Luke tells presenter Dan Tait before his set, “I just decided I’m going in blank and I’m going to have fun behind the decks,” and the grin on his face for the full 50 minutes is infectious, as he tears through an uncountable number of old and new house anthems.
Marvel at the super hero-costume-wearing Dutchman’s mixing skills below, and then catch up on his six (extremely practical) golden rules for producers over here.
