Watch Fatboy Slim make hungover ravers form a giant acid smiley
Dance music’s crown jester Fatboy Slim is no stranger to outrageous record-breaking feats: a couple of years back he hosted a marathon 12-hour dance competition to film the video for his hit Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat (in which the competing dancers threw manic shapes on the dance floor and in the toilet queue for 12 hours, until only two hardcore professionals were left).
This past weekend at the UK’s biggest dance festival Creamfields, the man born Norman Cook (who was there with his stage brand Smile High Club) decided to use his crowd-controlling skills for another mass action: to form the world’s largest Acid Smiley Face out of human beings. In a video posted to Facebook for posterity, you can watch as Cook’s “Random Act of Smileyness” takes shape, inspired by a time when Cook saw someone “herding sheep into a smiley pattern”.
Watch below as Cook takes to the Creamfields campground with a megaphone early on the Sunday morning, to roust up enough rough-headed campers to make his vision a reality: a contingent of hungover ravers eventually assemble to form the smiley face, and a helicopter hovering overhead snaps the photographic proof.
