Watch Deadmau5 and Pendulum do ‘Ghosts n Stuff’ live at Ultra

Ultra Music Festival likes to close its mainstage with a bang and 2016 was no exception.

For the final set of the weekend’s festival, UMF convinced Knife Party pair Gareth McGrillen and Rob Swire to go live as Pendulum for the first time in years. So after throwing down a typically incendiary Knife Party mini-set, they brought out a live band, switched into Pendulum mode and started trotting out the D&B classics while a rammed crowd watched on.

But the biggest moment of the set? That came with a cameo from Joel “Deadmau5” Zimmerman.

Fresh from his set on Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance arena, Deadmau5 stepped behind the decks as McGrillen sang the topline to their game-changing 2008 collaboration Ghosts ‘N’ Stuff. (“So rad to hear and perform ghosts and stuff live! You’re awesome for this,” he tweeted at Pendulum in uncharacteristically sincere style after stepping off stage). You can watch it happen below.

Between the cameo appearance, his ASOT set and a last-minute fill in for The Prodigy, Zimmerman clocked up some serious stage time at this year’s Ultra. Not bad for the guy who once described the festival as the “definition of insanity”.
