Watch a ceiling literally collapse on clubbers in Manchester
Clubbers at Manchester nightspot Factory 251 were forced to hold the venue’s ceiling up with their hands after it collapsed on top of them in the early hours of Sunday morning.
In an incident caught on camera by one punter, clubgoers can be seen holding the ceiling up with their bare hands. No injuries were reported, but attendees described a terrifying scene: “We were all dancing and we just suddenly had this wooden ceiling panel fall on our heads,” one clubber told the Manchester Evening News.
“As soon as the ceiling went all the lights smashed and fell on everyone, there was crying and screaming. We were just standing there holding it up, with half the room in darkness. It took about two minutes for the DJ to stop, then bouncers rushed in, but there was no plan.”

Factory have apologised for the incident – which they say was caused by a section of loose plasterboard – but told followers it will be “business as usual” at the club tonight.
“After a thorough investigation we have got to the bottom of what caused the ceiling to drop on Saturday and we can confirm the problem has been rectified :-),” they said in a statement on their Twitter. “We would once again like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and we would also like to thank all the people who held the ceiling up whilst dancing and partying underneath it…you guys rock.”
But it’s not the first time the ceiling has given way at Factory 251 – in 2014, a piece of plasterboard fell from the club’s ceiling, resulting in minor injuries to seven punters. Watch video of this weekend’s incident below.
