“Vote for Flume”: Watch Flux Pavilion take on the DJ Mag 100
It’s DJ Mag Top 100 voting time, which means your social media feed will be flooded with dance acts the world over exhorting you to vote for them for at least another couple of months. (Or, in Deadmau5’s case, asking you to troll the poll with a vote for “potato” in his honour.)
But one artist is taking a slightly different tack in his DJ Mag Top 100 campaign video. British bass star Flux Pavilion has dropped an animated video on Facebook calling for his fans to “vote for the music we believe in” and help get a different breed of artist to the top of the DJ Mag Top 100 poll.
And what kind of artists does Joshua ‘Flux Pavilion’ Steele want to see in the traditionally big-room-and-trance-dominated top 100? Flume, for starters, who Flux Pavilion says is, “captivating millions with a brand new style that he created, changing the face of electronic music.” Pretty Lights, Gesaffelstein and Brodinski, Montreal bass man Snails, D&B legend Andy C and Brillz all get a shout out from Flux Pavilion, who wants to make it clear that he’s not dissing the Top 100 poll.
“It’s a super cool thing,” he says in the clip, “but times are changing, and together we can help make the Top 100 reflect that. I want the list to represent what I see when I’m out there on the road, and to really capture the full spectrum of music that people are listening to… Vote for the Flux 100.” Scroll down to watch his curveball campaign video, and head over here to vote in the DJ Mag Top 100.
