Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt team up for Australian tour
First Frank Ocean was announced for Splendour in the Grass 2013 and now two of his fellow Odd Future buddies have revealed that they, too, are coming down under. In a joint tour that’s bound to be bathed in controversy, Tyler The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt are set to bring the ‘Earlwolf Tour’ to Australia this winter. It will mark Earl’s first trip to Australia, as he was locked up when the Odd Future crew took to Big Day Out in 2012. Yep, that’s the same Big Day Out where OFWGKTA were booted off the New Zealand leg for alleged homophobic lyrics. Since then, Frank Ocean has come out and Tyler has declared “I’m not homophobic”. So, with all that behind us and Australian customs (hopefully) willing, the pair will touch down in June.
Tyler, The Creator released his third album Wolf at the beginning of this month while Earl Sweatshirt is teasing the release of his album Doris, though no release date has yet been set. Let’s hope it drops before June so you have some time to get familiar with his new, post-jail, material. On touring, Tyler told US website The Fader “I like sweatboxes where if I stand at the edge and go forward I’ll fall into a bunch of people”. With some suitably sweaty venues set, Tyler could just find that down under.
Earlwolf tour dates:
Tue 4 June – Capitol, Perth
Thu 6 June – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Fri 7 June – Palace Theatre, Melbourne
Sat 8 June – Eatons Hill Hotel, Brisbane
Tickets go on sale 9am Tuesday 7 May
