The top 10 tracks of 2016 so far, according to Slander

Next month, L.A. duo Slander will touch down in Australia for a six-date tour that’s bound to get sweaty.

Partners in bass Derek Anderson and Scott Land have been doing big things in their homeland for the past couple of years, earning a reputation for playing seriously rowdy sets (they call their genre of choice “trapstyle”) and producing bangers of their own. Head to the packed Slander SoundCloud page and you’ll find everything from remixes for Jack Ü and DJ Snake to originals in the form of Love Again and the Nuclear Bonds EP, a collaboration with fellow Angelean NGHTMRE.

To get warmed up for next month’s tour, we tasked Slander with talking us through their ten favourite tracks of the year so far. Here they are, in no particular order.

#1 Skrillex ft. Rick Ross – Purple Lamborghini

Scott: “Really awesome to see a good song from EDM roots with some street cred.”

#2 The Chainsmokers ft. Daya – Don’t Let Me Down

Scott: “Have known The Chainsmokers for a while and really happy they started making music outside of the 128 BPM realm.  Keep killing it!”

#3 Flume – Say It (Illenium Remix)

Scott: “Huge from the Denver native. Has a lot of the same elements of sound that we are most known for.”

#4 DJ Snake – Propaganda

Scott: “Harder dance track from Snake’s album was always a hit with the crowd.”

#5 Zomboy – Like A B*tch

Scott: “…How could you NOT include this?! Instant anthem.”

#6 Travis Scott – Goosebumps

Derek: “This song gives me goosebumps every time. ;)”

#7 RL Grime – Aurora

Derek: “Love this emotional heater. It’s hard to find tracks that have comparable feels and intensity all rolled into one.”

#8 Zeds Dead x NGHTMRE – Frontlines

Derek: “This is the best emotional electronic track I’ve heard all year. The chords are unreal.”

#9 Noisia – Voodoo

Derek: “This track is sooo weird, yet it always gets an insane reaction when we play it. There’s something about how the bass sounds like its moving that gets the crowd going.”

#10 DJ Snake – Let Me Love You (Slander & B-Sides Remix)

Derek: “This is my favorite remix we’ve done all year. It actually makes me feel good inside every time I listen to it.”
