The line-up for Sydney’s RBMA Weekender is in
Red Bull Music Academy got Sydney seriously excited when they announced their plans to bring a four-day festival full of live music, club nights, parties, lectures, performances and art exhibitions to town this September. Today, the festival – dubbed RBMA Weekender – has revealed its line-up and it’s every bit as big as we’d hoped.
Joining the previously-announced Flight Facilities is house hero Larry Heard (aka Mr. Fingers) on his first ever Australian show, Ta-ku in directorial mode, Peanut Butter Wolf leading a Stones Throw Records’ 20th anniversary party, Berlin-based selector Xosar, Night Slugs name Bok Bok and local talents like Kučka, KLLO and Lewis Cancut.
All up, RBMA Weekender has 40 artists playing across 11 different shows over four days. The festival will take over venues like Carriageworks, Oxford Arts Factory and Manning Bar, with the music program complemented by daytime events like a reggae carnival, talks and workshops.
Tickets to each show can be picked up separately and some events – like Ta-ku’s in conversation about his creative process – are free. See the schedule of events below and head to the RBMA Weekender website for an in-depth run through of what’s happening when.
