The 2011 ARIA nominations are in!

Described by one ITM staffer as “less shit than usual”, the ARIA Awards have today announced the nominations for their 25th year. Predictably, there’s no shortage of ‘Adult Contemporary’ artists and other similarly as appealing nominees, but dance acts actually have a pretty decent representation as well.

Cut Copy have scored a nomination for Album of the Year with Zonoscope, and considering that they’re up against the likes of Boy & Bear, Eskimo Joe, Gurrumul and Grinderman… they might actually win! Art vs Science are also in the running, as contenders for Best Independent Release with their album The Experiment.

The nominees for Best Dance Release are:

Bag RaidersBag Raiders,

Cut CopyZonoscope,

Miami HorrorIllumination,

PnauSoft Universe and

The PotbelleezFrom the Music

The winners will be announced on November 27 when the awards go down in Sydney.

Cut Copy have already bagged the Artisan Award for Best Cover Art with Zonoscope – it must have been a tough choice between that and Soft Universe.
