Sydney is getting a new club night outside the lockouts zone
A conversation about stepping up Sydney’s Friday night club game has led to a new night at the newly relaunched Oxford Street institution Goodbar.
The Peoples Club is the brainchild of David Bangma (Insert) and business partner Nergal Youkhana (Charades), who were keen to put together a diverse night across the bar’s two levels. Acts will perform in the Upside-Down basement level, while they promise a house party vibe with “some of the best selectors around” in the upstairs Space Boogie bar.
“The stars just aligned and the timing was right to push though the devastating lock outs and inject more music back into the city,” the pair told inthemix this week.
Goodbar – which was relaunched by Scott Robertson and Paul Strange back in July – is located at the Paddington end of Oxford Street, meaning it’s just outside the lockout zone.
“It definitely has the advantage other spaces don’t have,” the pair said. “We weren’t looking for a venue, it was just by chance that the timing was right for the re-opening of Goodbar with amazing operators who have taken no short cuts to deliver one of Sydney’s best new venues.”
The Peoples Club launches officially on Friday, September 2, with a DJ set by Seekae. “With both levels equipped with the ever so impressive Void Acoustics rigs and the music programming, we are hopeful this will be a great injection to the Sydney night life.”
