Looks like we’ll be seeing a full-blown Swedish House Mafia reunion

Yesterday, dance legends Swedish House Mafia reunited for an epic mainstage set at Ultra Music Festival Miami.

Their show was just about the worst kept secret in dance music history. Rumours of a reunion were sparked late last year, when Ultra teased that their 2018 event would feature a “Special Anniversary Performance” in honour of the festival’s 20th birthday. Coincidentally, the 2018 event would also mark five years since SHM called it quits with a tearful farewell on the mainstage.

Despite the trio and their manager repeatedly denying that they would be reuniting at the festival, it seemed too good and too coincidental to not be true. And, in the end, it was.

The question now remains whether Swedish House Mafia will extend their return beyond the Ultra stage. And from the looks of it, signs point to yes — or at very least, possibly yes.

The biggest clue came within their Ultra set, when they reportedly dropped two unreleased songs. Online tracklists first pinned them as Steve Angello tracks, but on closer inspection they were revealed to be SHM ID’s.

Then there was these comments from SHM member Axwell, which came midway through their set: “This isn’t just Swedish House Mafia getting back together…We’re Swedish House Mafia for life this time!” Which could very well be an in-the-moment proclamation, but it could also mean they’re genuinely back together for good.

And finally, there’s the fact that 2018 marks 10 years since the trio first began making music together — which seems like a pretty solid reason to get out on the road for a world tour.

At the moment, there’s no official word from the trio or their management about any future plans. Until there is, relive their full Ultra set below (the alleged unreleased tracks come in at 25:54 and 28:30.)
