Ever since Swedish House Mafia called it quits with a tearful performance at Ultra Miami back in 2013, fans have been waiting and wishing for a reunion.
It’s not like the trio have been absent from the scene: members Axwell and Ingrosso have toured constantly as a duo (they’ll be Down Under next month for Melbourne’s Road To Ultra instalment), and Steve Angello has been just as active as a solo act. But so far, the trio have yet to reunite on stage under their most famous moniker.
That’s not to say there haven’t been any rumours: in December 2016 Billboard claimed they’d been informed by multiple sources that a reunion was on the cards, but longtime SHM manager Amy Thomson quickly quashed hopes by denying there were any performances in the pipeline.
But now it looks as if something is definitely in the works. A couple of weeks ago, Swedish House Mafia completely wiped their Twitter account — which is a typical move from acts who are gearing up to announce something. Further social media digging also revealed that Angello began following Axwell and Ingrosso on Instagram at the same time.
Then there’s the case of Ultra Music Festival. Last month, Ultra dropped the line-up for their 20th anniversary edition in Miami in March, with just about every dance A-lister on the planet set to be in attendance. And they’ve also been teasing that some “special anniversary performances” will be taking place over the weekend too, leading many to think that Swedish House Mafia will be reuniting on stage.

And seeing as SHM’s last performance was at the festival five years ago, it would make sense.
Of course, there’s been no official confirmation from the band or their management just yet. But we’re gonna go ahead and call it: 2018 will be the year that Swedish House Mafia reunite.
