Surprise! Armin, Luciano, Cox all line up for Ibiza DJ Awards

We’d forgive you for not setting an alert to check the Ibiza DJ Awards results as soon as they were published. As we’ve mentioned before, the ceremony seems to be lacking something in the prestige stakes – due in part to its unfortunate website design and sometimes baffling award categories. However, back-slapping is as much an Ibiza hallmark as obsence drink prices, so it wasn’t a surprise to see the White Isle’s star players in attendance at the ceremony last week.

So who were the winners, you’re (maybe not) wondering? Well, it’s a mixed bag. The Ibiza DJ Awards are divided into genres, with extra nods like Outstanding Achievement (Pete Tong took it home), Ibiza Night (Carl Cox’s decade-strong Revolution at Space) and remixer (three cheers for Afrojack). Two winners were announced for ‘Track Of The Season’: the Jamie Jones remix of Azari & III’s Hungry For The Power and Luciano’s much-caned take on Jamie Woon’s Lady Luck.

For the most part, the genre gongs went to Ibiza’s biggest money-spinners. Axwell, Carl Cox, Armin van Buuren and Luciano all came up trumps, while one of the more interesting categories Best Newcomer was won by tech-house talent Maya Jane Coles. Check out the key winners below.
