“Suck shit Tonez”: The dance world farewells Tony Abbott

Last night, Australia got a new Prime Minister for the fifth time since 2007. Budgie-smuggling, onion-eating, boat-stopping Tony Abbott’s out, and shiny new silver fox Malcolm Turnbull is in. As triple j presenter Dom Alessio pointed out, that means we’ve had a hell of a lot more PMs this decade than we have Avalanches albums.

So how did the dance world react to The Great #LibSpill of 2015? With glee, of course. From Peking Duk to Alison Wonderland and The Presets (who have never shied away from political issues) electronic stars of all shades wasted no time cheering Tony out of office. Even the UK’s Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs got involved.

In the spirit of schadenfreude, we’ve collected some of the best DJ reactions to Australia’s change of leadership. Enjoy them all below – and try to suppress that sinking feeling that life under our new PM might not be that different after all.

In other news the Australian parliament has now opted for Musical Chairs over the voting system.

Happy for all my Australian mates. Tony Abbott was a threat to the planet. And a nasty prick.
