Grime don Stormzy has cancelled all of his upcoming tour dates, including his appearance at this month’s Listen Out festival.
In a post to his social media accounts, the Shut Up hitmaker explained that with the exception of BBC-helmed festival 1xtra Live, the remainder of his scheduled 2016 shows will not go ahead. “You lot know how much I love and enjoy performing so I hope you can envision and understand how substantial the reasons are in order for me to make such a decision,” he wrote.
Listen Out have confirmed Stormzy won’t appear at the festival, which kicks off this weekend in Melbourne and Perth. “Obviously we’re totally gutted about this,” they announced. “We’re going to start looking straight away at whether there’s something special we can arrange in time for the festivals.”
Even with Stormzy’s departure from the bill, this year’s Listen Out boasts plenty of firepower. Hip-hop heavyweights like Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, A$AP Ferg, Travis Scott and Sad Boy rapper Yung Lean are all on the line-up, while the electronic contingent boasts everyone from homegrown heroes RUFUS to trap don Baauer and Brits Gorgon City.
Tickets are on sale through the Listen Out website now.
