Splendour in the Grass lineup coming next week
The wait is almost over: next week, Splendour in the Grass will finally unveil its 2013 lineup. Once and for all, the speculation, leaks and dodgy rumours will be laid to rest when Splendour themselves deliver this year’s ever-anticipated bill. But it wasn’t team SITG who made the announcement. Rather, Lindsay “The Doctor” McDougall let the news slip on his triple j show yesterday afternoon. “I wanna play a song by Jake Bugg now. You may’ve heard his tunes on a little promo for a certain festival that’s happening at the end of July, Splendour In The Grass,” he teased. “Now, no words on who’s playing Splendour In The Grass – we’ll find that out next week.”
We’ll be waiting with baited breath for that one, but one thing we can be assured of is the presence of UK dub-crooner James Blake on the lineup. In the country last month for a pair of intimate shows, Blake – who’s just released his sophomore record Overgrown – let slip to inthemix that he would be making the trip back. Sweetening the deal, he also said he’s interested in making time for a couple of sideshows. “Next time I tour I’ll probably just do some afterparties or something. I’ve never really DJ’d in Australia before – no wait, I actually DJ’d once at Splendour,” Blake told ITM. “But I could definitely do some after-show parties, that kind of thing.” He joins a growing list of other acts who’ve leaked their spot on the bill, including The National, Of Monsters and Men and Cold War Kids. For the rest, you’ll have to check back here next week.
