Skrillex meets Surfers Paradise at new summer festival
How’s this for a triple-headliner bill? Skrillex , A$AP Rocky and Wiz Khalifa have all teamed up for new festival Beachlife, which is set to hit Queensland’s Surfers Paradise over two days in 2014, on January 4 and 5.
The new festival is the brainchild of Cross Promotions and Fuzzy, who are also putting on Shore Thing with Skrillex in the headline slot at Sydney’s Bondi Beach this New Year’s Eve. A$AP Rocky and Wiz Khalifa, meanwhile, are both already heading out for Origin NYE in Perth, where they’ll be joined by the likes of Julio Bashmore, Dusky, Rustie and more on the bass-heavy bill. The pair of hip-hop heavyweights are also teaming up for one headline show, set for Melbourne the day before their Beachlife appearances.
Beachlife will run over one weekend, with Skrillex set to headline the Saturday January 4 show and A$AP and Wiz both set for Sunday January 5 – both single and double day tickets are available. Just like Shore Thing, the Saturday line-up will be rounded out by a few of Sonny Moore’s personal picks – the full bill is set to drop later today.
“Partying on the beach is one of the best experiences a person can have,” said promoter Billy Cross.”So many sites on the Gold Coast, like Metricon Stadium, have limited capacity. Having it on the beach creates a new venue that lets us sell tickets cheaper and create a great atmosphere for people. I think a lot of festivals will follow in our footsteps after this.” Beachlife is set to fill the gap left by Future Entertainment’s New Year’s festival Summafieldayze, which shows no signs of returning in 2014.
Tickets to Beachlife are on sale now through the festival’s website, going for $89 + BF a pop for a one day pass or $148 + BF for a two-day ticket.
