Shit goes down at Monster Massive LA

In echoes of the the drama at Electric Daisy Carnival earlier this year which saw hundreds hospitalised following massive crowd crushes and an underage girl overdose, fellow Los Angeles dance event Monster Massive went down over the weekend with more local ravers leaving the festival in an ambulance or in cuffs.

As reported by Daily Swarm, Monster Massive drew a staggering 16,000 punters to its Saturday-day festival, with DJs like Carl Cox, Armand Van Helden, John Digweed and Moby on the bill for the Halloween themed dance fest.

Of that crowd a reported 40 people were arrested on drugs and trespassing charges while a further 16 were taken to hospital following minor injuries. That’s a pretty insignificant set of figures when compared to 16,000 people in attendance, however that hasn’t stopped US media jumping on the event and scrutinising Monster Massive in the wake of EDC and of course the Love Parade disaster of 2010. We just hope A Current Affair doesn’t get to them…

“The message is getting out,” said Batt. Chief Michael Bowman of the Los Angeles Fire Department. “We want people to come here and have a good time but have a safe time.”

All eyes will now of course be set in the direction of next weekend’s Hard Haunted Mansion in LA, another Halloween bash featuring electro big-guns like The Bloody Beetroots, SebastiAn, Crookers and incongruous headliners Underworld.
