Shazam has predicted the 12 biggest songs of 2016
Every Ibiza summer, music discovery app Shazam tracks (pretty accurately) which tunes are blowing up the White Isle’s dancefloors by tallying up which tracks are most searched for.
They’ve also turned their hand to tracking the most popular tracks at festivals like Coachella and Tomorrowland and now, as Dancing Astronaut picked up, they’ve tracked Shazam trends to predict which tracks will be the biggest hits over the upcoming Northern Hemisphere’s summer (and Australia’s winter).
“This year was particularly tough as there are so many great songs with breakout potential,” Shazam CEO Rich Riley said – although there are a few clear hits in there, alongside some left field contenders.
Being a general Shazam list, and not a dance-specific playlist, the top ten is pretty heavily stacked with pop and current US hits, like Drake’s One Dance, Desiigner’s US mega-hit trap Panda and Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s latest. If you want to know which tunes will be inescapable over the next few months, scroll through the predicted top twelve tunes and watch their film clips below.
