RL Grime delivers the remixes you’ve been waiting for

Just last week, RL Grime let slip his plans to give last year’s stellar debut album Void the remix package it deserves. The release was slated for next month, but today the trap kingpin has delivered on the promise ahead of schedule, sharing five new edits on Soundcloud for your listening pleasure.

So far, only two of the tracks on Henry Steinway’s much-loved record have been given the rework treatment, but they’re both standouts. Londoner Melé, genre-bender Wuki and remix king Salva have all taken on Kingpin, while Jersey club name DJ Sliink and Los Angelean King Henry have put their touch on Scylla. Speaking to triple j’s Lewi McKirdy last week, RL Grime said that there would be “about ten” tracks on the Void: The Remixes collection, meaning we can look forward to a handful more tracks arriving soon. Hear the first five below.

And as for new RL Grime originals? According to his chat with Lewi, the hitmaker is already at work on a new EP, with plans for a second album already underway. He’ll have to fit the studio time in between a busy tour schedule, with the next few months taking the L.A. talent from Las Vegas superclubs to Japan’s Fuji Rock festival and back to his hometown for this year’s HARD Summer.
