Reps confirm Avicii has cancelled all scheduled shows
Reps for Avicii have confirmed that the Swedish DJ, real name Tim Bergling, has indefinitely cancelled all scheduled performances, according to a report by Billboard today. The cited reason is his continued recovery from health issues. After rumours of the cancellations circulated today on dance blogs, it appears Billboard has received the official word.
Avicii’s official Twitter was updated this afternoon with a ““happy 25th birthday message for the producer from his team, but no mention yet of the cancellations. His upcoming tour schedule includes TomorrowWorld in Georgia, sets at XS and Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas and Insomniac’s Californian Halloween festival, Escape: All Hallows’ Eve.
Back in March, Bergling was forced to cancel his appearance at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival after he was hospitalised. (Deadmau5 stepped into his headline slot at the last minute.)
As the DJ wrote to fans after his sudden cancellation: “My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis…I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away.” The pain didn’t subside, and Bergling was taken straight to hospital to have his gall bladder and ruptured appendix removed.
Head to Billboard for the report, and stay tuned for updates. As Billboard writes, “According to his reps, Avicii will recuperate in his native Stockholm until he has recovered the strength and physical well being necessary to resume work on his second artist album next year.”
