Remember when Ta-ku dropped this epic ‘Back to the Future’ remix?

Over in the USA, they’re just winding up Back to the Future Day (aka 21 October, aka the date Doc and Marty first traveled to the future), which means right now your news feed is probably littered with hot takes, think pieces and listicles dissecting every possible Back to the Future angle there is. (For the record, our mates at Junkee made a genius video about the whole thing that you should definitely spend 75 seconds watching over here).

But hold tight for one more second, because we’ve found the only Back to the Future throwback that truly matters. Everyone’s favourite sharp-coiffed beatsmith Ta-ku dropped an epic hip hop remix of the franchise’s theme track a few years back, and we can’t think of a better time to revisit its excellence. In related Ta-ku news, his heart-rending new co-production with Future Classic’s latest signee Wafia just dropped (you can listen to it here), and the pair will appear together at Ta-ku’s upcoming live shows, covering everywhere from New York’s MoMA PS1 this weekend to local festival favourites Field Day, Southbound and Beyond the Valley.

You can also catch him at Sydney’s Electronic Music Conference on Wednesday 2 December, in conversation with legendary taste-maker Gilles Peterson (get your EMC tickets here while they last).
