Rejoice, Peking Duk’s debut album “is underway”
With two consecutive platinum singles under their belt, it was only a matter of time before Peking Duk decided to step things up a notch. So this week, Canberra’s best-loved hitmakers delivered the news we’ve been waiting for: their debut album is “underway”, and it’s ball-tingling good.
With the news dropping over Instagram, the only other piece of info we have for now is that a new single is “coming very soon”. That will be Peking Duk’s first new track since Take Me Over, the twice platinum-selling smash with SAFIA that shot to #6 on the ARIA charts and hit #5 on this year’s triple j Hottest 100 countdown. Before that Peking Duk gave us High, the tune that made them dance superstars.
Duo Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles will have to fit recording the album in between an increasingly busy tour schedule. After ticking Coachella off their bucket list in April, the next few months will see the boys play high-profile shows at US festivals like Lollapalooza, HARD Summer and Electric Forest, as well as making their return to Byron Bay for this year’s Splendour in the Grass.
If you want something to listen to while we wait for the new single, get stuck into the Duk’s freshly-delivered mix for Diplo & Friends on BBC Radio 1. With tunes from friends like Golden Features, What So Not and Slumberjack mixed in with their own hits and some classic party-starters, it makes for an epic hour of music.
