Every year, the members of the wildly popular subreddit r/Electronic Music come together and vote for the year’s best dance music. It’s usually a pretty competitive playing field, but this year one act nearly pulled off a clean sweep.
Seattle duo Odesza were named the winners in almost every category, including for Album of the Year (for A Moment Apart), Song of the Year (‘Late Night’), and Best DJ Mix/Live Set (the Moment Apart Tour). They then rounded it all off by taking out the big one: Best Artist.
Jamie xx’s remix of his band’s track ‘On Hold’ was named Best Remix, while Feed Me picked up a Best EP nod for his release Existential Crisis (Porter Robinson’s new Virtual Self project came in second.) Breakout Artist of the Year went to Dutch future bass selector Droeloe.
Skrillex’s label OWLSA picked up the gong for Best Label, but the producer wasn’t so lucky elsewhere: his ‘HUMBLE.‘ remix was named the Biggest Letdown of 2017.
