Rave of Thrones hit Sydney last night and we’ve got the photos
A crowd of Daenerys Targaryens, Jon Snows and one very convincing Hodor look-alike crowded into Sydney’s Hi-Fi for the debut of Kristian Nairn’s Rave Of Thrones tour last night.
Basing a DJ tour based around a minor (but much-loved) character from a hugely popular TV show may seem tenuous, but promoters Falcona went all-out with the production: Ego’s VJing intro was both impressively intricate and hilarious (the highlight being a cut-up of Game of Thrones sex scenes with Kanye’s infamous Bound 2 video); there was a replica Iron Throne on the stage; actors playing show characters (including an extremely flexible Unsullied soldier); and even some low-key pyrotechnics.
Meanwhile, Nairn dropped a 90-minute set of big-room and bass-driven house, proving that 16 years working the Belfast club scene is an excellent apprenticeship for moving crowds. Genial giant Nairn can’t quite seem to believe his luck (“The theme of this year for me is ‘strike while the iron is hot” he told inthemix on the evidence of last night, long may he Hodor.
