Rainbow Serpent Festival announces first line-up for 2014
Over the Australia Day weekend in 2014, Rainbow Serpent will once again stretch across four days deep in the Victorian bush. This will be the 17th edition of the festival, expected to draw over 10,000 people in January. Now the first names have been revealed, and there’ll be a lot more to follow. Two of the finest DJs around for parties under the stars, Donato Dozzy and Michael Mayer, are on the bill. Then there’s favourites like King Unique and FreQ Nasty, plus more from across the electronic music spectrum.
“Part of our goal every year is to find outstanding, contemporary talent from a range of genres and countries,” Festival Director Tim Harvey puts it. “We’re really excited because, as amazing as the currently announced acts are, they are only a hint of what is to come with some very big announcements on the horizon.” The 2014 festival will be held from 24 January and tickets go on sale to public in late July.
With the last-minute addition of Sasha to the line-up, the 2013 edition of Rainbow Serpent left an indelible mark. As our reviewer wrote: “The beauty of Rainbow 2013 will live on through shared memories with old friends and new, and the anticipation of 2014 will soon be born in the meticulous planning of costumes, the hard-rubbish scoping for couches, and the unfathomable preparatory details sketched anew by the event’s organisers. You might think this level of random happens by chance, but as every patron and festival organiser knows, this is no accident.”
