Piknic Électronik is back in Melbourne this summer
Everyone’s favourite Sunday session, Piknic Électronik, is coming back to Melbourne for its third season next January, and from the looks of the program next year is going to its biggest yet.
For a start, Piknic Électronik has locked in a huge new venue – Southside at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl – with the season set to stretch over 12 packed Sundays, kicking off New Year’s Day and finishing up in March.
The bill for this season’s launch party has just been revealed, and it’s stacked: UK duo Audiojack are headlining, coming back after their huge performance at Piknic last year. Berlin house masters Session Victim are locked in as well, with Melbourne favourites Spacey Space, Francis Inferno Orchestra, and Damian Laird filling out the line-up.
Piknic Électronik started in Montreal 13 years ago, and has since expanded to include editions in Barcelona, Lisbon, Dubai, and now Sydney and Melbourne. From the start, it’s offered a thoroughly family friendly way to party: it’s all ages, with a heap of different activities and yummy food to keep you hooked even when the music has paused. (Don’t worry – there’s still a bar.)
The full Piknic Électronik season runs from January 1 to March 19. Tickets for the New Year’s Day party are available now at a cool $25; a season pass will set you back $180. Head over here to get your mitts on them.
