Here are all the parties on in Sydney during EMC week

The biggest week on Australia’s dance music calendar is almost here. EMC will take over Sydney from November 29 to December 2, bringing together some of the industry’s biggest power players and Australia’s best dance talent for five days of seriously informative panels, production masterclasses, keynote interviews and networking opportunities. On top of the conference and all the madness of EMC Play, there’s a bunch of parties happening throughout the week that you won’t want to miss – so to make your party planning easy, we’ve put together this guide of everywhere you need to be next week. Read on and wise up.


MONDAY

EMC Opening Night Party @ Ivy

In an event exclusive to EMC delegates, the conference will kick off with welcoming drinks at Ivy.

TUESDAY 

Refuge Records pop up party  @ Strand Hatters

This will be the latest in Refuge Records’ famous pop up party series No Place Like House. Taking over Strand Hatters in the CBD, they’re set to showcase their best upcoming talent. There’s also complimentary Lord Nelson brews for your enjoyment. It kicks off at 8pm.

EMC Banquet BBQ @ Taylor’s Rooftop

Tastemaking labels Medium Rare, Jump To This, Refuge and Double Up are teaming up to showcase their best upcoming artists over two levels in the middle of Sydney. There’s a free BBQ happening from 7pm as well. It’s sure to fill up, so make sure you RSVP.

EMCPlay

This is the big one: EMCPlay will showcase over 65 local artists across four different venues on one night. The line-up has been expertly programmed by Dave Ruby Howe, who’s picked out the best in Australia’s rising electronic talent – names like Paces, Kuren, Ribongia, Tigerilla, LOLO BX, Muto, Set Mo, Airwolf, Made in Paris and Klue. The centre of the action for EMCPlay, the OAF will feature sets from Kuren, Paces, The Tapes and Alice Ivy. Both rooms of the venue will be taken over, showcasing the best in upcoming electronic talent.

EMCPlay: Nuff Said x etcetc x Eighty Six @ World Bar

The crews at Nuff Said, etcetc and Eighty Six are setting up shop at the World Bar for the night, and have created a slick line-up of new talent for the night. Set Mo, Poolclvb and LO’99 are just a couple of the names locked in to deliver sets.

EMCPlay: Audiopaxx x Kosher x Pilerats x Sidechains @ Hudson Ballroom

Colour Castle, Tina Says, Fresh Hex, Hi Life, Amastro and a tonne more – that’s what’s going down at the Hudson Ballroom (formerly Plan B, formerly Goodgod). Programmed by the legends at Audipaxx, Kosher, Pilerats and Sidechains, it’s going to be big.

EMCPlay: UNDR Ctrl x Purple Sneakers x Nap Girls x Deeper Than House @ Oxford Circus

Human Movement, Nat Noiz, Val York, Mezko, Annie Bass – there’s a lot going on at Oxford Circus. Apart from the huge amount of local talent lined up, they’re bringing along a special international guest in WRLD, the Dutch future bass artist.

EMCPlay: OneHit Agency Showcase @ The Basement

Dream Channel and SpiceCats VR pop-up @ Chavelle Cinema

This virtual reality experience will merge music, film and fantasy. Guests will also get to see how VR actually comes together; parts of the studio will be transformed into a lounge bar, and DJs will be programmed into a green screen. This invite-only event will feature some surprise international guests. Kicks off at 7pm.

Dream Channel and SpiceCats VR pop-up @ Chavelle Cinema

In a gala dinner at the ivy Ballroom – followed by an afterparty upstairs – all the winners in this year’s inthemix Awards will be revealed.

FRIDAY

Musica Copa soccer tournament @ Marrickville KIKOFF Centre

The battle for music industry soccer glory is returning for the second time in 2016. Over 21 teams are set to compete for over $10,000 in prize money – all of which will be donated to charity.

SUNDAY

EMC official closing party @ Tell No Tales

The closing party of EMC week is none other than the huge new techno festival Tell No Tales. Heading the line-up is the legendary Ricardo Villalobos, as well as Pan Pot, Nastia, Matthew Dear and a heap of others.
