Ou Est Le Swimming Pool frontman has committed suicide

Some very distressing news has emerged today out of the UK where the NME reports that the frontman for one of this year’s most buzzed about acts, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, has committed suicide.

According to a news piece on MOG, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool had just played the massive Pukkle Pop festival when the band’s singer Charles Haddon took his own life backstage by jumping from “a mast” in the parking area. He was just 22.

As well as gathering a tidal wave of buzz over the last 12 months for their sprightly synth-pop, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool were a month away from touring Australia for the first time as one of the bands to watch at this year’s Parklife festival. ITM will of course endeavour to keep fans updated with any forthcoming statements from Parklife organisers, Fuzzy, but for now we can only feel very sombre at this unfortunate news.

UPDATE: Ou Est Le Swimming Pool’s statement on the death of their singer

We are all so deeply saddened to confirm that our friend Charlie Haddon passed away yesterday, Friday 20th August. The singer had just performed with his band, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium. He was 22 years old.
