Nicolas Jaar’s Darkside project is “coming to an end”

If you saw Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington on stage together at Splendour last month, count your lucky stars – that was one of the last shows the pair will ever play as Darkside. Early this morning, Nico and Dave announced via their Facebook that “Darkside is coming to an end, for now.”

“Thanks for listening and supporting us this year,” the pair signed off, sharing two previously unheard Darkside tracks to say goodbye. Gone Too Soon and What They Say were both made while the pair were recording their faultless lone album Psychic, and both will be released as part of the WORK compilation set to drop on Jaar’s Other People imprint late next month. Darkside have live dates around the US and Europe over the next month, with their final show together to take place mid-September in Brooklyn.

Darkside’s only album Psychic was met with near-universal acclaim, including placing at #3 on our list of the best albums of 2013 and snagging #10 on our list of the best tracks of the year with Freak, Go Home. It wasn’t their only musical feat in 2013: last year, the pair also remixed Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories in its entirety.

While this might be the end – “for now”, at least – of Darkside, with Harrington still serving as Jaar’s live guitarist, it’s unlikely that the duo’s musical relationship is over. Read out full 2013 interview with Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington here.
