You need to hear Deadmau5’s remix of one of his biggest tracks

Joel ‘Deadmau5’ Zimmerman’s label mau5trap recently celebrated its 100th release by paying homage to one of the producer’s biggest tracks, Strobe. He tapped five artists – Feed Me, Lane 8, Dimension, ATTLAS, and Com Truise – to tackle the seminal cut and remix it afresh, compiling the results into a new EP, released last Friday.

Now Zimmerman himself has decided to get in on the action, unleashing his own eight minute remix of the song. Styled as EbortS (that’s ‘Strobe’ backwards, guys) he originally teased it back in March, but now the track can be heard in full. As an extra gift, he’s also offering up the remix as a free download.

Zimmerman started working on Strobe way back in 2006. It was then released on his album For Lack of a Better Name in 2009 and in the years since, Strobe has grown to become one of Zimmerman’s best loved songs.

Of working on the remix for the Strobe (Remixes) EP, Toronto producer ATTLAS  said: “Obviously you can’t out-do Strobe. The track is the stairway to heaven for an entire genre. Instead, I wanted to build an homage to the melodies and memories that strobe gives me, and set those against a backdrop of a smaller reminder of my favourite times hearing this track out in venues around the world with people that mean a lot to me.”
