A Melbourne club night has blasted a rival for “stealing” its venue

Melbourne club night Pony has announced its closure through a fiery Facebook post, blasting their current venue La Di Da and rival party crew Anyway.

Pony has operated at La Di Da for over two years, but is now been forced to make way for a new night curated by Anyway — and by the looks of it, they’re not happy.

“With shock and sadness Pony has been forced to no longer open its doors on a Saturday night,” they wrote. “Anyway has stolen your beloved place that you all call home.”

They then hit out at La Di Da, accusing them of dealing with the matter “in a highly disrespectful manner” and claiming the venue had “turned it’s back on us.”

“Pony for two and a half years has brought nothing but joy and happiness to all of the regulars and created nights you don’t remember with the people you will never forget,” they said. “Pony will be back. Fuck Anyway.”

It didn’t take long for Anyway to hit back. They returned fire at Pony with a similar Facebook post, urging punters to not “believe everything you hear. #phony.”

“La Di Da is a fantastic venue that was in search of a new weekly club night, as many venues often do when a night has run its course – a position Anyway was happy to fill,” they said.

“It is upsetting to hear disgruntled parties have spoiled our exciting news to turn a new chapter with attacks on us. If everyone just focused on producing and maintaining the best quality night for their crowds to enjoy, there would be no reason for venues to make such changes.”

Read Anyway’s post below — they will kick off the new weekly club night on June 17.
