Maroochydore boutique festival delivers its timetable and map

Queensland’s Sunshine Coast gets a brand new boutique music and arts festival this weekend – Saturday 22 August – taking over the Horton Park Golf Course, Maroochydore, with local champions like Flight Facilities, Hermitude, The Kite String Tangle, Hiatus Kaiyote and more.

The festival has just delivered its schedule for the day, and with one main stage there’ll be no danger of timetable clashes. “Through my own experience with festivals that have one stage,” festival director James Birrell said, “you find there’s a collective consciousness of a thousand or so people standing together in the amphitheatre, all really listening and focusing on the band and not worrying about missing their favourite acts or trying to find their friends.”

Besides the ace line-up of local dance acts, indie bands and hip hop crews, there’ll also be a big emphasis on forward-thinking art installations at MMVAF, with organisers promising a festival site that’s an “open-air visual art gallery” featuring things like “giant illuminated inflatable bunnies,” to mention but one artist’s work. Final tickets are on sale now from the official website. [Photo by Hans en Grietje]
