Listen: Two Door Cinema Club premieres Madeon-produced single

Monday through Thursday each week, BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe announces his choice for “Hottest Record in the World.” Today’s pick also happened to be a premiere: Irish indie-pop group Two Door Cinema Club unveiled its new single, “Changing of the Seasons,” produced by none other than our 25 Under 25 runner-up Madeon.

Madeon’s efforts on “Changing of the Seasons” are evident in every note. What could have easily been a more morose song about fading love is instead an uptempo, hopeful, rock-meets-dance hybrid. Two Door member Alex Trimble’s slick vocals are accompanied by synthesized guitar work and Madeon’s melodic, electronic flair. Crucially, “Changing of the Seasons” feels like an authentic collaboration, preserving the individual styles of both artists while also creating something that sounds new and innovative. The track is the lead single from Two Door Cinema Club’s upcoming three-track EP of the same name. Changing of the Seasons, set to debut September 30, will be the group’s first release on major label Parlophone. The track premiere accompanies another big milestone for the band: Today, Two Door announced that it will be headlining London’s 20,000-seat O2 Arena in December.

As for Madeon, the French prodigy is keeping busy as well. He recently released the theatrical stunner “Technicolor,” and is playing at Creamfields, Electric Zoo and North Coast Music Festival in the next two weeks alone. Plus, the long-reported possibility of a Madeon-Lady Gaga appears have become a reality. When leaks of unfinished songs from the superstars’ upcoming album ARTPOP began to surface online, Gaga tweeted about the issue (see below) and mentioned the French producer. We’ll have to wait until November 11 to hear the results of that particular collaboration.
