Listen to the Disclosure and Nile Rodgers collaboration ‘Together’

Earlier this year, disco pioneer, Daft Punk collaborator and all-around legend Nile Rodgers alluded to some work he’d done with Disclosure.

Now, six months later, we have a final product that’s bigger on features – and funkier – than what we could have hoped for. The track Together is a short and sweet jam fest featuring Rodgers, the Disclosure brothers, Sam Smith (the vocalist on Disclosure’s track Latch) and producer Jimmy Napes. The track sounds exactly like what you might expect of Rodgers and Disclosure getting into the studio to experiment; they meshed their respective styles to create a chimeric track that falls somewhere between the Nile Rodgers parts of Random Access Memories and Settle.

Fortunately this particular collaboration didn’t end up going the way of Azealia Banks’s collaboration with Disclosure, which was revealed as binned when the Listen Out festival artists sparred in the media during their Australian visit. (Disclosure told a Dutch radio station, speaking about the hyped Banks collaboration, that, “We don’t normally mention when we’re going into the studio with someone, so we can avoid all this madness… Now all these blogs think we’ve made a masterpiece, but really, we just sat there eating sushi.”) Listen to the (happily) successful Nile Rodgers and Disclosure collaboration below, and catch Nile Rodgers in the flesh next month when he tours the country.
