Listen to Chic’s new single with two underground house stars
Disco legend Nile Rodgers and his band Chic haven’t released a single in about 23 years, but today they’re back in the game with the funk-heavy track I’ll Be There, along with an eye-catching video that features supermodel Karlie Kloss throwing shapes in her underwear (you can watch that below). As you might expect from one of the greatest hit writers in history, I’ll Be There is a proper jam, packed with Nile Rodgers funk licks, disco horns, soul vocals and – interestingly – percussion by the biggest rising stars of underground New York house, The Martinez Brothers.
Chic is touring the new single around the UK over the next month, ahead of the full album dropping in June via Warner Brothers. In interviews last year, Rodgers said he’d been working with producers like Disclosure, Avicii and David Guetta for the new album, along with many of his previous collaborators; and with a list of past collabs that covers everyone from Daft Punk to David Bowie, Madonna, Mick Jagger and Pharrell, the new album (Chic’s first since 1992’s ‘Chic-Ism’) is highly anticipated. In the meantime, you can get your Soul Train on with the video for I’ll Be There below or pick up the single over at iTunes (or on vinyl at Amazon).
