Listen to Annie Mac and Pete Tong smash a B2B set in Ibiza
Right now in Ibiza, the Balearic Isles are sweltering through a heat wave, as the cream of the world’s underground DJs – and a handful of big name acts – play an enviable roster of Monday-to-Sunday parties right across the island.
BBC Radio 1 was over in Ibiza this past weekend to celebrate its 20th year of the White Isle’s annual Radio 1 Weekend, delivering three massive nights of parties at the Hard Rock Hotel, San Antonio’s Sunset Strip, and superclubs Ushuaia and Privilege.
The full weekend of celebrations saw sets by the likes of UK dance legends Faithless, Carl Cox and Danny Howard, plus prog and house heroes like Eric Prydz and Erick Morillo on the Saturday night, and fresh blood like Disclosure, Duke Dumont and Rudimental. But Friday night at Ushuaia might have been the pick of the bunch, with chart-toppers Calvin Harris and Disclosure playing Annie Mac’s opening party.
To close proceedings at the end of the night, Annie Mac and Pete Tong went back-to-back for a smashing set of cutting-edge house and time-tested classics, taking in everything from Moby edits to new Disclosure, Kings of Tomorrow’s 2000 house hit Finally, and closing with Laurent Garnier’s techno classic The Man With The Red Face.
If you’re in the UK (or have a region-blocker) you can watch the 45-minute set over at the BBC’s iPlayer, otherwise hit play below to listen to the set in full (complete with the very-hyped crowd singing along to every line).
