Listen: Laidback Luke and Martin Solveig’s Stereosonic-inspired collab
Last year, respective big-roomers Martin Solveig and Laidback Luke were just two of the names on the miles-long Stereosonic line-up. Over two weekends, the Stereo cast travelled around the country from city to city, squeezing in sideshows, media time, the Electronic Music Conference and, occasionally, a few hours of sleep. Miraculously, somewhere in all of that Solveig and Laidback Luke found the time go to work on a collaboration.
Overnight Solveig posted Blow to his Soundcloud, a track the pair started on the road in Australia last summer. “Luke & I started this collab in Sydney at Turning Studios in between Stereosonic 2012 shows. We finished it for Ultra but were not quite happy with it then,” the Frenchman wrote. “We finished last week with a battle of sessions sent through yousendit, arguing about the sound of the kick drum until the day before premiere. When I opened my Tomorrowland set with it and saw 20k people punching the sky with their fist everytime the vocal says “blow”, I had the feeling this was finally ready to be shared.” As you’d expect, it’s a high-energy offering.
Over at Laidback Luke’s Soundcloud, meanwhile, followers were treated to something a bit longer. To celebrate hitting a milestone 500,000 Facebook fans, Luke went to work on a mix encompassing all the tracks, remixes and edits he’s done in the last 12 months. All up, it came to new fewer than 27 different cuts, from his Justin Timberlake’s Suit and Tie bootleg through to his Example collaboration Eutopia. Get stuck into that and the brand new Solveig collab’ below.
