Listen: Flume goes jackin’ house on new remix
Right now, toast-of-2013 Flume is living it up in Europe on a star-making Northern summer tour. Having just played alongside Trentemoller, Ame, Jamie Lidell, Mark Ronson and a hell of a lot more at the 2013 edition of France’s beach party Calvi On The Rocks (for good reason, one of our 25 Festivals To Discover Before You Die), he’s got a whirlwind itinerary ahead. To pick just a few stops, there’s Wireless Festival in London where he’s the alternative to headliners like Calvin Harris, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, Berlin’s hip-hop/reggae fest Splash!, Montreux Jazz Festival in the picturesque landscape of Switzerland, and the Longitude finale in Dublin.
In the midst of all this action, Flume took to SoundCloud to share his new remix for the Verve Remixed: The First Ladies compilation. The Sydney producer’s take on Marlena Shaw’s Woman Of The Ghetto is fittingly called ‘Flume’s Jackin’ House Mix’, and it “also happens to be that “thumping production he played for inthemix in Miami. Flume’s spot on the compilation sits alongside a varied cast of remixers. There’s two of America’s biggest mainstage draws Kaskade and Bassnectar, London house hero Maya Jane Coles, beatmakers Pretty Lights and Tokimonsta, plus this bunch.
