The line-up for RBMA Weekender 2017 has landed
Last year, Red Bull Music Academy brought the likes of house legend Larry Heard, local lads Flight Facilities, Peanut Butter Wolf and Ta-Ku to decks and panels across Sydney for their mammoth four-day Weekender festival. They’ll be back at it again this September and judging by the line-up they’ve just dropped, it’s going to be huge.
Darkwave icon ABRA, Chicago composer Peven Everett, and house selector Tony Humphries are just a couple of the internationals making the trip down under, while acts like Flex Mami, Simon Caldwell, Adi Toohey and Manu Crook$ and more will be flying the flag for the locals.
Japanese musician Midori Takada will also be making his return to the shores of Sydney Harbour, joined by jazz outfit Krakatau and Wilson Tanner (András’ ambient project), and hip -op crew One Day will be bringing the cream of Australia’s rap crop to Max Watts, with REMI, Joyride, Jackie Onassis and B Wise all locked in to perform.
All up, over 55 acts will be stepping up over the four days – so check out the full program on the website to get planning. Tickets are on sale now. Apart from all the tunes, there’ll be in-depth conversations with artists such as Humphries and musician and activist Bunna Lawrie.
Along with the four-day festival in Sydney, RBMA will be running Road To Weekender events in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth from August 26 to 31. ABRA will step up for sets in all cities, with Melbourne also getting performances from Midori Takada and Peven Everett. More acts and lectures will be announced for all cities soon.
