Laneway Festival locks in 2016 dates and venues

Celebrating its 12th year, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival will return to Australia in February 2016, presented by our sister site FasterLouder.

For the first time the Australian leg of the tour will begin in Adelaide – where the promoters are touting a “pretty big surprise” for fans – then head to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne before ending in Fremantle on Valentine’s Day.

The Adelaide and Brisbane festivals are 16+ but all other shows are over-age events. The festival will also be held in Singapore for the fifth year running and make its seventh appearance in Auckland.

The official lineup announcement for Laneway 2016 will be unveiled at 9am on Tuesday 22 September. So far the only acts “confirmed” for the bill are Hudson Mohawke and Purity Ring, but the line-up for Laneway’s annual SXSW party (hopefully) provided a few clues about who they’re bringing to Australia in 2016 as well.

Laneway Festival 2015 featured performances from Mac DeMarco, Royal Blood, Caribou, FKA twigs, Flying Lotus and Courtney Barnett.
