Laidback Luke [Audio]: Calm and collected on his way to the top

Roger Sanchez and Laidback Luke – the most interesting professional partnership in dance since Paul Oakenfold threw his support behind Argentina’s Heran Cattaneo? Yep, we think so. He’s now an integral part of the Stealth Records crew, but just because we’ve been hearing about him more and more over the past 12 months due to his allegiance with the ‘S Man’, don’t make the mistake of assuming that Luke is an up-and-comer. He’s been a fixture on the Holland dance scene since the mid 90s, and since then he’s already nailed down more than 100 recordings.

The international hype that’s been gathering around Laidack Luke over the last 12 months has been massive: he’s been releasing dancefloor weapons concocted with the help of Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrossio, he recently put together an Essential Mix for BBC1 Radio and most importantly, he’s in the country right now as part of the Future Music Festival. But if he’s overwhelmed with how fast things have been moving, you can’t tell it in his voice: he’s got a calm and collected demeanor that stays true to his name. ITM’s Angus Paterson talks to Laidback Luke ahead of his remaining gigs for Future Music Festival this weekend.

You can catch Laidback Luke being all calm and collected behind the decks at the following dates…

Mar 8 – Future Music Festival, Sydney

Mar 9 – Future Music Festival, Melbourne

Mar 10 – Future Music Festival, Adelaide
