Jamie xx just announced his only Sydney sideshow
His debut LP In Colour will likely top many of the ‘Albums of the Year’ lists for 2015, and as those plaudits rain down, Australia is lucky enough to be getting the producer’s live show in person over the NYE period.
Jamie xx has already announced appearances at the Lost Paradise NYE festival near Sydney and Beyond The Valley in Victoria, as well as a string of epic sideshows around the country, including two sold-out shows at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, a Perth sideshow with fellow British electronic auteur Four Tet, an Adelaide sideshow at Thebarton Theatre, and the inaugural FOMO Festival, an epic one-day festival sideshow in Brisbane with RL Grime, Skepta and Boys Noize.
Now, the announcement that Sydney fans have been waiting for has arrived – Jamie xx will play one Sydney sideshow on Sunday 3 January at the Enmore Theatre, and he’s bringing a stacked support line-up with him. Melbournians Tornado Wallace and Harvey Sutherland will be making the trip north as support acts, bringing their critically acclaimed fusions of nu-disco, house and techno with them.
Tickets for the sole Sydney sideshow go on sale at 9am next Thursday 9 November via the Handsome Tours website. Give your Monday a boost by watching the clip for I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) below, the track ranked by Spotify as their “song of the [Northern Hemisphere] summer”.
