It’s Tiesto vs Corey in ITM’s most read stories for January

There’s no denying that Australia found itself enveloped by Corey controversy throughout January. It’s not entirely surprising, as who wouldn’t be interested in hearing about a 16-year-old party animal that goes on the run from his irate parents… What’s more surprising, however, is that not even inthemix was able to escape Corey’s ever-present media saturation, as four of our 10 most read stories of January related to the sunglass wearing drop-kick.

Thankfully the highest ranking Corey story of the bunch was our hard hitting investigative piece into whether Australia’s top tier DJs would play at a Corey event… it showed that you were all as amused by the absurdity of the situation as us. Not to be outdone, global dance superstar Tiesto managed to battle with Corey for several spaces in the top 10, coming from nowhere with his announcement of an Australia tour to take out the #1 position, and also slotting in at #5 for his plans to marry 19-year-old teenage sweetheart Stacey Blokzijl.

Aside from Corey and Tiesto, festivals proved an ever-present topic of popularity, with stories on Field Day, the Big Day Out and new Brisbane event Hear & Now also making appearances in the top 10. Also managing to squeezing onto the list were French electro-fiends Justice, with news on their cancelled Madison Square Garden gig getting tongues wagging.
