It’s not Daft Punk, but we’ll take it: Darkside have just announced a 2014 Australian tour. Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington’s genre-bending project are heading back our way in April next year for two shows, one at Sydney’s Hi-Fi and the other at the Palace Theatre in Melbourne. Joining them at both shows are recent Modular recruits Movement.
Australia’s the latest stop to be announced on Darkside’s Psychic world tour, which has already seen the pair sell out shows in London, Berlin and Brussels. Naturally, the tour comes in support of the duo’s masterful debut album of the same name, which earned itself a telling 9.0/10 seal of approval from Pitchfork upon its release last month and which we’ve already gone ahead and crowned one of the albums of the year. It’ll be only the second time Darkside have done Australia, with Jaar and Harrington having played their first shows in the country at the beginning of the year around Jaar’s solo Laneway Festival dates.
“For the record, we have had some of our best shows and some amazing times playing in Australia,” Harrington told inthemix earlier this year. “In a very sincere way, it’s always been good vibes for us playing there.” For Modular subscribers, presale tickets are on sale now – general public ticket sales start from 9am on Thursday, November 21.
