How to make it: With Krewella, Sampology, M4SONIC, Acid Jacks and more

Last year’s Electronic Music Conference was packed full of panels and workshops with advice for young producers on-the-up, from ‘How to Build a Live Set’ with I Am Legion to a legal advice panel with a team of arts lawyers. Two panels of particular interest were ‘Dance Music Discovery’, where industry heads and young guns chewed over the various ways to get your name out there, and ‘Doing it Your Way’ with Krewella, which looked at the strategies behind the EDM group’s meteoric rise.

Nina Las Vegas headed up the stacked Dance Music Discovery panel, with Dancing Astronaut CEO Senthil Chidambaram, Beatport’s Executive Creative Director Clark Warner, triple j Unearthed’s Music Director Dave Ruby Howe, Vicious Recordings A&R Guy Lewis, Your Shot DJ comp founder Steve Lewis and artists Sampology, Acid Jacks and M4SONIC, chewing over the various methods that emerging artists can use to get their music heard and build their profile in a crowded market.

Meanwhile, chart-topping bass merchants Krewella took time out from playing on the inthemix team at charity soccer event Musica Copa (oh, and crushing the mainstage at Stereosonic) to stop by EMC and tell Tommie Sunshine how they accelerated from blog-beloved upstarts to international stars in just a few years. You can watch both panels in full below.
