How dance music’s fared in 20 Years of triple j’s Hottest 100

Over the weekend, triple j has been counting down the results of its 20-year-anniversary Hottest 100. With any song released from 1 January, 1993 and 31 December, 2012 in the running, votes were tallied and the playlist is approaching its finale.

So far electronic music has made a strong showing, with one particular name you’ll be unsurprised to see a few times: Daft Punk. The robots have released all their seminal albums in the time that the Hottest 100 has been running, so the likes of One More Time, Around The World and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger have made the cut.

Naturally, local favourites The Avalanches and The Presets haven’t been forgotten, and enduring icons Underworld, The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim have also polled. Check out the results as they unfold towards #1 below. So far, the highest-ranked track from the dance world is The Prodigy’s incendiary single from 1996, Breathe.
