Help make this techno track the UK Christmas number one
The UK Singles Chart’s Christmas number ones have traditionally been the domain of acts like The Spice Girls, East 17, Girls Aloud and X Factor winners, but with the news that Storm Queen’s Look Right Through (MK remix) just hit number one, the time is ripe for change.
A campaign in 2009 successfully propelled Rage Against the Machine’s 1992 track Killing in the Name to the Christmas number one spot, beating out that year’s X Factor winner, and this year London producers DE$IGNATED and Tí‚CHES are hoping to repeat its success, FACT Mag reports, with a campaign to make Boddika and Joy Orbison’s techno monster Mercy this year’s Christmas number one.
Their Facebook campaign page already has over 6000 likes, although they’ll need to reach around 750,000 members to achieve the same level as the Rage Against the Machine campaign. Disclosure have already thrown their support behind the campaign on Twitter, while Skream is lending a hand with a promise on Facebook to “give every track I’ve ever made away for free!” if Mercy makes the number one spot. Buy the track on December 20 to give it a push.
